Sales Week With Jack Daly

Hyper Sales Growth Hacks with Jack Daly

Last week we welcomed Jack Daly to our session. He is a leading sales speaker with 30 years of experience and the author of The Sales Playbook, one of his many books about sales.

This time we opened the backchannel to submit questions to make the most out of our one-hour session. Here are the top three questions:

  1. How can I make more money with less work?
  2. Where are the people that are knocking the ball out of the park? Where are the successful people?
  3. Are virtual assistants effective for a salesperson or does it really need to be someone by your side in your office?

Listen to the full session above so you can hear more about these (and more!) questions about hyper sales growth.

Facebook Ads Strategies

We have original Facebook disruptor, Ad-guru Charlie, on the stage as a moderator, who is an expert in scaling Ads along with our host Coach Yu. We talk about dollar-a-day boosting strategies, the top changes in IOS14, and video content and the importance of its length, all with the same aim, to optimize your reach and target an audience.

1. Targeting the media

When a topic is of national interest, you can target the media, the journalists are thirsty for your content. Choose your audience wisely and use the blue ‘boost’ button to gain exposure to media organizations. Use social media to your own advantage and feed journalists leads to your Ad stories with the dollar-a-day strategy to maximize your budget.

2. The top changes to IOS14

Now, you have the ability to act on just the data that the platform shows you. You need to learn and figure out your numbers and the metrics because Facebook fails to correctly source those figures. A smart technique is to build communities of those who viewed your Ad and target those audiences.

3. Watch time

We all know the perfect short and engaging video should be around 15-seconds, to a minute. The trick is to check your average ‘watch time,’ to provide the most important part of your message within those seconds. The average watch time on Facebook is six seconds.

Coach Yu advises you to take a course, sign up for business accelerators, and educate yourself. Teach yourself and then hire! If you want to get even more insights, listen to the full session above!

Protecting your brand with trademarks

Rich Goldstein is an expert in the field of patents and the go-to man for entrepreneurs to help protect their brand with trademarks. Rich discusses the best time to set up a trademark to save money and we get an inside scoop on being strategic with patents before releasing the product to consumers.

In our ‘no pitch zone’ this week, we spoke to Rich Goldstein, the man in demand for his knowledge, guidance, and expertise that he provides as a service for entrepreneurs. Rich has helped create over 2000 patents for entrepreneurs, in order to protect their ideas. Rich is all about strategy, a man with a clear plan and he’s here to teach us all…

So what is a patent?

A patent is basically a license that covers your product as a ‘new’ invention from those who wish to copy or steal your product design or idea. Cool huh?

Types of patents

There are two types of patents, the ‘Utility patent’, and the ‘Design patent’ and you don’t want to trip up and get the wrong one because this could seriously impact your business and your ability to protect your product.

Let’s break it down:

  • Utility patent: A new and improved, structural invention with new features. Does it have add ons, new features? Extras that make your product NEW? The Utility patent is functionally different and is the more expensive type. If no one has ever done this concept of your product, you can protect it! But be careful, it is very rare to find a ‘new’ product that hasn’t been done before.
  • Design patent: A ‘Design patent’ protects the appearance and overall look of the product. If you have a distinctive looking product, get a design patent to prevent copy-cats.

So how much do we need to change a product to get a ‘new’ design? It has to be a non-obvious design. Here’s an example, think of a microwave, a rectangular microwave oven with a curved door and keypad buttons, it has been done before, however, if your microwave has a special window glass design that no other microwaves obtain, then you’re qualified for a Design patent.

Are you covered by the correct patent? If not, listen carefully on how to get yourself covered…

2. When you cannot enforce a patent

Before designing your own, Rich said it is important to “do your research,” find out what is already on the market, and “don’t copy!” Do your research and scan the market for what is already available to consumers. Is there something already on the market that is similar to your product? It is difficult to get a product with distinguishing differences, meaning that gaining a patent is more difficult to attain because it is more difficult to infringe.

3. Use your imagination

Once you’ve gathered your research, it’s time to get your notepad and pencil out and draw your own ideas! Get your creativity on and design your own product in a way that can be considered different from what is already on the market; consider how unique your product is, and whether it is “too close” to another product. It is important to acknowledge, shape, texture, and the product’s features.

Now you’re ready to pick the correct patent for you and your product.

Pro tip!

Do not launch your product to the public before seeking a patent. It is important to get your patent first! The US has a one-year timeline before you are unable to seek patent protection. However, the one-year time zone isn’t granted outside of the US, so it is important to do your research.

Moving Your Business Forward in a Locked-Down Planet

We look at how Covid-19 has rocked businesses around the world, and how entrepreneurs are battling business in a locked-down society. We discuss both the challenges and opportunities that have transpired from lockdown and gain an insight into startups created by minorities. We discuss tools on moving forward and flourishing during the pandemic including strategies and ‘happiness skills,’ staying connected, and safety.

1. Strategies and ‘Happiness skills’

Ron raised questions around using Covid-19 and the pandemic as an opportunity to succeed in strategies that defy conventional wisdom. Ron stated that the second most important factor as an entrepreneur experiencing the pandemic was to focus on ‘happiness skills.’ Happiness skills are a set of skills that focus on keeping on top of positive energy and feeling a sense of happiness from everyday activities. Ron gave an insight into how he is teaching entrepreneurs on Clubhouse to advance their online persona and interact in a digital world to stay in control of the business.

2. Staying connected

Are you listening to your staff? Are you still able to spend time with key members of the business? Can you find a way to remain in touch with clients? Is the pandemic testing relationships? It is important to find ways to connect with people and stay in touch with a human connection. Use platforms like Clubhouse to connect with others and enhance your business by tuning in to motivational rooms and seeking inspiration from role models.

3. Safety

Protecting everyone’s safety is the utmost priority, however, you cannot protect anyone’s mental or physical health if you don’t protect your own first. Safety can be an excellent strategy to launch new startups. The pandemic created fantastic opportunities for entrepreneurs to find what consumers were in demand of and were able to launch companies and businesses selling sought-after products, for example, risk management, masks, and covid testing kits.

Ron’s top tips to keep on top of happiness:
Are you present and deep-diving into the activities you are experiencing? Ron recommends concentrating on the activity you are doing and remaining attentive.

In the session, we are taught that our minds create happiness when we focus on “being in the moment,” being present, and feeling grateful. Listen to the full recording above to get the most out of this session!

What Happens After a Sale?

Have you thought of the steps you need to take after you make a sale? It is a critical step in your marketing funnel to bring customers back. It’s usually more cost-effective to have returning customers than acquiring new customers.

It’s an entirely different thing to get more sales from your existing customers, and that process starts right after the first sale. So here are some tips shared in our last session about post-conversion:

#1 Daily sales huddle: Gather your team and quickly have everyone answer these 3 questions:

What was yesterday’s number one success?

What is your top focus for today?

Are you stuck?

#2 Don’t be afraid of trying new things: By trying different things you are able to stand out from the crowd and surprise your customers. Even if something doesn’t have the outcome you want, you then know what not to do.

#3 Don’t assume: Don’t assume anything about your customers. Sometimes we stop doing the most obvious thing which is talking to our customers, don’t be afraid to ask them so you better understand what their needs are.

Selling on Walmart

This week on our eComm weekly we discussed why people should sell online and why Walmart is a great platform for it! We invited Michal Chapnick, an expert in the field to join us.

Unlike Amazon, Walmart looks for selles with e-commerce experience. They will look into any other online stores you may have, analyze your experience and activity, as well as making sure you have a registered business in the U.S., basically they want experienced sellers on their platform.

Experienced sellers are not necessarily the ones making seven figures, but the ones that have been out in the marketplace.

Because of the pandemic, Walmart has invested into building an instant-fulfillment since the growth rates went up to 70%. This means that it’s probably on the top 5 for online shopping.

If you want to hear about the application process and what are some of the stumbling blocks, listen to the full session above!

Growing a Business

Every week we gather to take a look at what it means to be an entrepreneur, not just the business challenges, but also what it means to be an entrepreneur from a personal perspective.

This week we discussed different strategies to grow your business. These are the top 3 insights we got from our audience and moderators:

  1. Be Intentional About your Key Metrics
In order to know where you are going, you have to know where you’re at as of today, if not, how are you going to measure your growth? What are those key metrics that will show growth? Do you actually know what you should be measuring?
  2. Build a Community
We won’t get tired of repeating this, community is everything! The best way to grow your business is to understand your customers. Once you make them feel understood and your main focus, they become loyal customers. There’s nothing more valuable than loyal customers, and the best way to do this is to give without expecting anything in return. People know when you’re only doing something for the money.
  3. Build a Company Culture
Building a community is not only important for your customers, it starts within your company. Building a company culture will set you up for success. The more aligned your employees are with your target audience, the more they will be able to connect with them, which will translate into attracting not just any customer but the right customers.

Strategy vs. Tactics

During this session, Coach Yu discussed the difference between a strategist and a tactician.

He starts off by explaining the basic definition of strategy, which is the building blocks of goals, content, and targeting. Strategy shouldn’t change that often, as it’s designed to be the core of your company, although it can, and it should be tweaked every now and then to maintain alignment with what is also happening out in the world.

Tactics, on the other hand, are all those tools that you would use to reach the goals defined in your strategy, whether it’s a channel, a campaign or a sales technique.

So your company’s vision, mission, values, and most likely audience (aka strategy) will stay the same, but the channels, assets, and techniques (tactics) may constantly change to work on achieving those goals.

So, which one are you? Are you the one setting and defining goals? Or are you the expert on the tools?

If you want to listen more on this topic brought by Coach Yu, listen to the full session above.
